CCA Names New Architecture Chair

Ila Berman, former associate dean of the Tulane School of Architecture in New Orleans, has been named chair of undergraduate and graduate architecture programs at California College of the Arts (CCA) in San Francisco.
Berman served as associate dean at Tulane since 2004; she began teaching at the university a decade before that. Prior to Tulane she held teaching positions at Harvard, Cooper Union, and Illinois Institute of Technology. Among her achievements at Tulane, Berman initiated and directed URBANbuild, which provides urban design and sustainable housing techniques to rehabilitate hurricane-damaged areas of New Orleans. She is also principal and design director of the New Orleans architecture firm Studio Matrixx.
CCA, formerly the formerly the California College of Arts and Crafts, is the largest independent school of art and design in the western United States. It added a Master of Architecture Program in 2004.
