Designer Vera Wang and Gabellini Sheppard Associates have updated a cast-iron building in Soho. Concealing the 2,000-square-foot space’s rough edges, columns are hidden beneath matte plaster and beams tucked within stainless-steel enclosures. Throughout, designers took cues from the couture. “There is a performance aspect to her clothes, which became touchstones for the space’s layout, materials, and proportions,” said Michael Gabellini. Wang’s chromatic layers influenced the lighting, created with Tillotson Design Associates, which creates theatrical color planes of lavender, straw, and moonlight.
