Every year, the Architectural League of New York gives its Emerging Voices award to eight young architecture practices. The awardees are chosen through a juried portfolio competition open to firms in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The jury selects the recipients with distinct approaches to design that have the potential to influence the future of the profession. It is one of the most coveted awards in North American architecture.

“Every project presents a unique set of constraints that become key in our design process. The potent ideas for each project are derived from available materials and labor. Materiality is definitely an area of focus. We start with a wide berth of looking at different materials and honing in, looking at samples, mockups, and experimenting with the materials.” |
