GRT Architects recently completed a Dutchess County getaway for New Yorkers contemplating a move upstate. The 800-square-foot home—featured online a few months back—radiates on a three-axis pinwheel floorplate and incorporates a number of eco-friendly elements.

Joining this pared-back retreat is a new 440-square-foot painter’s studio. Set apart from the main cottage on the 24-acre lakefront property, this latest edition champions the same sober yet impactful palette of materials.
