When the team behind the Park Hyatt Aviara luxury resort in Carlsbad, California, was preparing to remodel the hotel’s lobby, their goals were clear: Create an enhanced indoor-outdoor guest experience and maintain the classic appearance and symmetry of the architecture.
Collaborating with the experts at Western Window Systems helped them realize their aesthetic harmony between moving glass walls, arched transoms, fixed windows, and operable doors in the resort’s lobby, bar, and restaurant areas. The chief undertaking of the project was to create the widest opening possible between interior common spaces in the lobby and an exterior garden with an ocean view.
The technical requirements were strict for the lobby’s centerpiece; it needed to cover the largest possible opening, have the maximum amount of glass without visible metal, a flush threshold, and low maintenance aluminum framing. How did they solve it? With smart engineering and a Western Window Systems Series 7950 Bifold Door.
