Design Miami/ today kicked off Design for Ukraine, a multiphase fundraising initiative-slash-online design sale, where all proceeds will be donated to relief efforts in Ukraine as the country continues to sustain military aggression from Russia in what is the largest ground war on European soil since World War II. Design For Ukraine will run through June, with lighting brand Bocci serving as Design Miami/’s first partner for the effort.

Bocci, based in Vancouver and Berlin, has donated a considerable trove of lighting and glass design pieces—table and floor lamps, tabletop vases, and several truly spectacular limited-edition chandeliers—designed by creative director Omer Arbel. In total, the donated pieces amount to $150,000; prices for each individual object range from $275 to $39,405. Proceeds from the sale of all pieces, some of which were exclusively produced for the fundraiser and feature blue and yellow color palates inspired by the Ukrainian flag, will benefit nonprofit GlobalGiving’s Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund. As detailed in a press release, purchases made as part of the initiative will help to provide those on the ground in Ukraine impacted by Russian aggression with “urgently needed humanitarian aid, with a focus on the most vulnerable, including children, by providing shelter, food, clean water, health, psychosocial support, and more.”

“We are deeply concerned by the humanitarian crisis in the Ukraine and want to support efforts to help the ongoing emergency situation faced by the Ukrainian people,” relayed Bocci in a statement. “In doing so, we have teamed up with Design Miami/ on a fundraiser with all of the proceeds going to the Ukraine Crisis Relief fund, set up by GlobalGiving.”

The first phase of Design for Ukraine featuring items from Bocci will last through the end of April. Following that, Design Miami/ will make available “additional design material offered from galleries and creatives in the Design Miami/ community.” The initiative is produced in collaboration with Anava Projects, which is the creative agency overseeing Design Miami/’s philanthropic and editorial efforts.
