In the construction industry, a shift toward sustainability is increasing the burden for residential and commercial builders to build structures that adhere to a particular thermal insulation R-value.

OX Engineered Products is designing to this exact standard with its weatherization systems that help meet rising R-value requirements for a range of climate zones across the United States.

California is one of the latest states to establish stricter mandates. The Golden State recently updated its Title 24 code for energy conservation dictating that mass wall exterior insulation values must fall between R-13 and R-17.

1.7″ OX-IS provides a thermal R-value of R-10 before any other methods of insulation are even considered. By serving as continuous insulation, another R-2 is added for a total of R-12 once installed. That means builders can stick with 2×4 stud construction and use continuous insulation from OX to achieve a code-compliant wall effectively and affordably.

OX weatherization systems are cost-effective, high-performance solutions that are available in a market that is challenged by material shortages. OX’s integrated 3-in-1, 4-in-1, and soon-to-be 5-in-1 sheathing and continuous insulation solutions are helping builders meet increasingly stringent energy codes and helping to support a greener built environment.
