Inspired by the City of Chicago’s INVEST South/West Initiative, Miguel Antonino Santos, recent graduate of the College of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, created a proposal to revitalize the Kenwood Line, a six-station branch of the city’s “L” network that served South Side residents and visitors from 1907−57. Now based in Chicago, Santos originally hails from Pasig City, Metro Manila in the Philippines—among the most densely populated areas on Earth. Hear how Santos suggests Chicago leverage this decommissioned rail line in support of greater socioeconomic equity and neighborhood vitality. This program is part of Open House Chicago 2020.
