A+C 15: AN INSIDER’S TOUR OF THE GIANTS’ GARDEN: A TOMATO GROWS IN CENTERFIELD

« All Events

Come see how Blasen Landscape, EDG Interior Architecture + Design and Bon Appetit Management Company helped a tomato grow in Centerfield at AT&T Park. This functional garden in the official Major League Baseball venue, grew out of a desire to create something emblematic for San Francisco at the Giants’ home field; an edible garden was a natural solution, combining community outreach with culinary culture in a fun outdoor environment for fans. The Giants’ Garden at AT&T accommodates aeroponic towers (helping plants grow twice as fast, without soil) and traditional plant beds, as well as flowers and fruit trees, and the produce is featured at the concession stands and bar within the garden. The garden cuts down on the venue’s carbon footprint with reduced trucking, and enhances AT&T Park’s stature as a LEED Silver facility. Tour led by Jeff Burkebile (Sr. Associate, EDG Interior Architecture + Design) and Hannah Schmunk (Community Development Manager, Bon Appetit Management Company). Image Credit EDG Interior Architecture + Design.
