A+C 15: Play: Design In Action

This year, the Architecture and the City festival theme is Play: Design in Action. Like the larger festival, the exhibition explores play as a process for innovation in a variety of design disciplines including architecture, graphic design, product design, fashion, interior design, and interaction design (similar but distinct from interactive design). The exhibition features well known projects by Bay Area companies including Google, Heath Ceramics, Michael Schwab Studio, and Scientific Arts Studio with special attention to multiple iterations, alternatives created during the design process, and other examples of how playful approaches facilitate problem solving and risk taking.

Exhibition Participants:
Heath Ceramics (Candlestick holder Exploration)
Google (Google Doodles)
Justin Diles (Sculpture Artist)
Donald MacDonald (Architect)
Scientific Art Studio (Playground design)
Michael Schwab (Festival Poster and branding)
Anchor Brewery (Christmas Label Design)

Guest Curator, Erin Garcia
