- Presented by Lawrence W. Speck, FAIA, West Jury Chair
(1 HSW) - Though architecture certainly has the ability to shock us, move us and make us sit up and pay attention, its greatest power is more subtle and subliminal. By providing the crucible in which we play out our everyday lives, it helps shape our interactions, moods and actions. As an essential factor in affecting behavior, architecture has the potential to make lives better, make communities stronger and contribute to the common good. These effects should be the measures of good design.
