AIANY Interiors Committee Speed Presentations

Speed Presentations was created by the AIANY Interiors Committee to showcase New York-based architects who are designing outstanding interior spaces. The format of the event—10 architects presenting in quick-fire six-minute intervals—allows us to explore a wide range of projects in a short time frame.

The theme of this edition, “Looking Back to Look Forward,” calls for interior projects which—through renovation, adaptive reuse, or some other intervention—make significant contributions to the host building itself, the neighborhood it serves, or the city in general through design, program, service, or other strategies. Projects may be of any type or scale, may be public or private, however should be predominantly about the design of interior spaces. Examples include, but are not limited to, adaptive-reuse, renovation, or redevelopment that examine the past to inform the new.

Architects must be AIA members who work for or owns a firm based in New York City. Projects can be located outside of New York. More than one project can be entered. All projects should be completed (or close to completion) and no more than five years old. There is no entry fee.

Please submit no more than ten (10) 11×17 pages in PDF format that include photographs, drawings, and a brief narrative describing the project and how it responds to this year’s theme. The images should be in the order that they will appear in the final presentation at the Center for Architecture on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
