Bernard Tschumi’s Lecture

THE CITY AND ARCHITECTURE FESTIVAL AND THE SWISS EMBASSY IN MEXICO PRESENT:
CONFERENCE OF THE RENOWNED ARCHITECT BERNARD TSCHUMI

The event will be broadcast virtually on the Arquine and MEXTRÓPOLI channels and will feature the participation of Léo Trembley, deputy head of mission of the Swiss Embassy of Mexico and Miquel Adrià, director of Arquine.

Bernard Tschumi was born in 1945 in Switzerland. Architect, writer, and pedagogue. Son of another renowned architect (Jean Tschumi), Bernard’s practice is commonly associated with the deconstructivist school. As a theorist, Bernard Tschumi reflects on the role of architecture in society, establishing that the architectural work should not be related to the spatial context for which it is designed, which is expressed in his works, which do not impose a hierarchy on the society in which you are. Among his most relevant books are Red is not a Color and The Pleasure of Architecture, where he develops his ideas regarding design and cities and the relationship they have with the body, pleasure, and visual representations of architecture. On the other hand, among his most important works are the Blue Condominium for New York, the Acropolis Museum and the Paris Zoo, all projects that privilege the formal virtuosity of architectural discipline.
