Prefabrication has transformed building delivery. BIM has opened up opportunities for construction trades to provide prefab components for today’s fast track projects. Assembling multi-trade racks in a controlled space contributes to a Lean Practice in the supply chain to improve safety and quality, decrease waste, simplify logistics, and deliver successful projects.
Mike Betts, Joe Colleran, Bryan Brunelli and Neil McCann AIA from TG Gallagher will present and lead the discussion on how BIM shortens the workflow by developing fabrication level of development (LOD 400) 3D models with attached product specs for coordinating the building systems and
preparing spooling documents for their 40,000 SF prefabrication facility. Simultaneously, hanger and sleeve locations are transferred from BIM to Robotic Total Stations at the jobsite. This streamlined procedure ensures that project goals are met on time and within budget.
