Green roofs and walls have a vast but unrealized potential to address many of the fundamental challenges facing New York City.
For the first time CitiesAlive is heading to the Big Apple October 5-8, 2015. New York City is home to thousands of designers, millions of people and boasts numerous Awards of Excellence winning projects. The conference will highlight the latest scientific studies on green roof and wall performance and showcase the latest policies, designs, products and services.
In our 2015 Market Survey New York City came in fifth for most green roof projects installed in 2014 after Washington, Toronto, Philadelphia and Chicago. The walls and roofs of New York City provide hundreds of square miles of surfaces that can be used to help address many pressing issues such as:
– Maintaining and improving community and individual health and well-being.
– Preparing to address climate change and severe weather.
– Contributing to quality affordable housing.
– Cleaning NYC’s waterways.
CitiesAlive delegates will partake in technical sessions directed towards design, research and policy communities and focus on the latest scientific research, design, products, and policies all of which are critical to meeting the challenge of promoting healthy and resilient people and places in New York City. Delegates can tour leading edge projects, research facilities and see some unique sites such as the High Line, Javits Center and Brooklyn Grange Farm.
