Creative Collaboration / Big Art

This panel discussion brings together the viewpoints of artists, architects, agencies, and attorneys to explore the creative and collaborative process of incorporating large scale art in architectural design projects — from the selection of the artist and working with owners, architects, and landscape architects, to funding, agency and public approval process, and intellectual property issues. The panelists include: Johannes Girardoni and Mary Miss, both sculptors and installation artists; Joseph Welker, James Carpenter Design Associates; Alexander Darraby, Esq., The Art Law Firm; and LeAnn Shelton, Esq., AIA, Rockwell Group, and former member of the NYC Public Design Commission. They will discuss permanent and temporary works, physical and digital installations, as well as public versus private commissions.
