Eric Höweler: Signal to Noise

Speaker: Eric Höweler at Höweler Yoon Architects

Host: David Leven, Associate Professor of Architecture

Signal to Noise describes a contemporary mode of perception — and practice, within our contemporary culture and acknowledges that cultural production today is set against an expanding backdrop of media and information. This superabundance of signals, images, and data points creates a congested context against which all public arts are read. Indeed the notion of public – and private- has been fundamentally altered by a technologically expanded sense of commons that extends across media formats and channels.

Höweler + Yoon Architecture has been grappling with an expanded practice of architecture and design at a range of scales and formats, taking into consideration the technologies that make up our every day experiences and interfaces.Signal to Noise is the title of our forthcoming book.
