Gaetano Pesce exhibiton at Museo del Novecento and Piazza Santa Maria Novella on view from October 21, 2016 through February 8, 2017.
Since designing his iconic 1969 Up 5 Chair & Up 6 Ottoman – a feminist statement meant to symbolize the societal restraints imposed on women – the oppression of women has been a recurring theme in artist Gaetano Pesce’s multidisciplinary practice.
The ambitious and conceptual exhibition Maestà Tradita (Majesty Betrayed) continues Pesce’s critique via a three-part exhibition composed of two gallery installations at the Museo Novecento and a monumental site specific sculpture situated in front of the church of Santa Maria Novella in Piazza Santa Maria Novella.
