The historic Lower West Side of Manhattan includes the western section of the former Printing District, dubbed the “Glass Box District” of Hudson Square. Continuing below Canal Street, the tour enters TriBeCa and highlights contemporary construction both in and outside the jagged borders of the neighborhood’s disconnected historic districts.
Highlights include buildings by Winka Dubbledam of Archi-tectonics (497 Greenwich and 33 Vestry Street), Philip Johnson (Urban Glass House), Enrique Norten (1 York Street), Morris Adjmi (408 Greenwich), Dattner Architects (Manhattan Districts 1/2/5 Garage), and Herzog & De Meuron (57 Leonard). A few interiors will be visited, including the magnificent art deco lobby of the former AT&T building by artist Hildreth Meiere and the postmodern TriBeCa Grand Hotel lobby by Bill Sofield.
Tours will run rain or shine.
Tour is limited to 15 (Waiting list available)
