SOM Foundation Researcher-in-Residence application

March 8

Free

A Los Angeles–based residency program by SOM Foundation and MAK Center for Art and Architecture is now accepting applications. The Researcher-in-Residence is a $5,000 award and four-to-eight-week summer residency at R.M. Schindler’s Fitzpatrick-Leland House in Los Angeles. The residency is awarded annually to an architect, artist, and/or researcher based in the United States to conduct original research that contributes to the current topic.

This year’s topic, Adapting Housing Strategies to Respond to New Realities, tasks applicants with exploring affordable, equitable, and innovative modes of multifamily housing that respond to current and future needs.

The Researcher-in-Residence program is open to U.S.-based professionals researching or practicing in a discipline that relates to the built environment, and will take place between the weeks of June 1 and July 31.

The application deadline is March 8, and winners will be notified by April 5.

More information regarding guidelines and eligibility are available on the application’s website.
