Steven Myron Holl Foundation’s Architecture Residency: Rural Compression – Cosmic Dust

March 5, 2019 @ 12:00 am - March 31, 2019 @ 12:00 am EST

Yes

‘T’ Space, a project of the Steven Myron Holl Foundation, is pleased to announce its 2019 residency for emerging architects.
The residency welcomes students and professionals of architecture, as well as artists with a demonstrated interest in architecture.

Five residents will be selected on a competitive basis for ‘Rural Compression – Cosmic Dust,’ the 2019 ‘T’ space Summer Architectural Residency in Rhinebeck, New York. This 23-day intensive studio challenges undergraduate, graduate students and young professionals to think and design critically. 2019’s residents will enjoy theoretical and experimental freedom as they design a center for cosmological observation.

Using both analog and digital media tools, the program is complemented by design critiques, pin ups and conversations with invited professionals and exhibited artists. Students visit Dutchess County destinations of acclaimed architectural and artistic interest. Venues and personalities change year-to-year, and have included institutions like the Dorsky Museum, Art Omi, Grace Farms and Dia:Beacon with critiques by architects Tatiana Bilbao, Lars Müller and Steven Holl.

Applicants are required to submit basic information about themselves as well as a 1-page CV, 1-page letter of interest and portfolio of their work up to 15-pages (8MB maximum file size). Competitive applications will demonstrate research or professional experience in architecture. Selections are made on the basis of merit after panelist review; panelists are professionals active in the field of architecture. Residents will be announced on April 10, 2019.

The Foundation offers reduced application fees for early submissions.

Early deadline, $50: March 8, 2019.

Final submission deadline, $75: March 31, 2019.
