The Architect’s Newspaper presents TECH+, the first expo and forum of its kind to explore the quantum leap of technology hitting the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industries. Taking place during NYCxDESIGN month, New York’s official citywide celebration of design, TECH+ builds on the synergy of the design world’s convergence on New York City.
As AEC professionals strive to build more sustainable and intelligent buildings while streamlining the design and construction process, the pursuit of technology to keep up with their demands is constantly evolving. TECH+ presents the vanguard of products and software, from virtual reality-aided design to rapid prototyping/fabrication, smart building systems, and IoT. Exhibitors will demo these products and the innovative ways to best utilize them.
Microsol Resources’ TechPerspectives morning program spotlights industry leaders who not only use these new technologies but also develop methodologies to re-shape the fabrication of the built environment. Our afternoon Keynote is Gensler San Francisco’s Principal Hao Ko, who is collaborating with Nvidia on their new Santa Clara headquarters with their own GPUs. Other speakers include R/GA’s Daniel Diez, talking about “The Connected Office” and the high tech kit of parts created to facilitate similar setups worldwide, and Kerenza Harris, of Morphosis Architects, who is discovering how to best implement new tools, especially VR. Cindy McLaughlin of Envelope and Zachary Aarons of Metaprop NYC will discuss the intersecting worlds of architecture and real estate in the startup space and our Startup Showcase will feature early-stage startups pushing the boundaries of technology for the AEC industry and work from leading design schools like Parsons, Pratt, MIT, and Columbia GSAPP.
