Tech+: Rising Complexity will highlight innovation in construction and design

On October 22, The Architect’s Newspaper is shining the spotlight on the latest innovations in construction and design at Tech+: Rising Complexity. The full-day symposium is a continuation of our national Tech+ conference series, hosted virtually and featuring case studies and firms from across the country. The program is co-chaired by Dr. Negar Kalantar, an associate professor of the California College of Arts and the co-director of their Digital Craft Lab.

The program features two hour-long keynotes, delivered by Arup Director | Americas Digital Services Leader Fiona Cousins, and Clark Pacific Modular Segment Lead and SCI-Arc professor Greg Otto. Both keynotes will be followed by a moderated discussion where audience members will be provided the opportunity to directly ask the keynote speakers questions.

The remainder of the days will be split between three panels: “Breaking Ground: Advances in Construction and Project Management,” with Lendlease vice president Alexis McGuffin, SOM director Julia Murphy, Walter P Moore associate Katherine Chan, and Sciame vice president Snigdha Mittal Pullara; “Digital Toolbox: Tracking Progress on the Cloud,” with Sasaki senior associate and chief technology officer Holly St. Clair, DLR Group senior associate and design technology leader William Carney, and BQE Software chief creative officer Steve Burns; and “Gaming the System: Harnessing Graphic Engines at 9 DeKalb,” with SHoP Architects director of interactive visualization Adam Chernick and senior associate Foteinos Soulos, and Unity project lead David Ménard.

Sponsors will be on hand throughout the day to both present and discuss new tools and how they can be applied to your latest projects.
