Purpose-Driven Design Reimages Affordable Housing with a Focus on Community and Sustainability

With a stunning facade reminiscent of Lake Ontario’s waves, Lakeshore Lofts redefines affordable housing. This 68-unit mixed-use complex, designed by Invizij Architects Inc, meets the rigorous Passive House energy standards and holistically provides the community’s needs. It inspires a better future for residential construction in Mississauga.

Serving the most vulnerable, the housing and services offered at Lakeshore Lofts creates a sense of belonging. In addition to supplying fully accessible housing and food security, the facilities include counseling services and on-call support, and the passive housing efforts keep utilities low.

While function was at the forefront, there was no compromise in design with the help of ALPOLIC metal composite materials (MCM). 25,000 sqft of 4mm ALPOLIC/fr in five stock colors cascade across the four stories. The MCM, tested to meet Canada’s rigorous fire safety standards, was fabricated by Cladco Limited into colorful panels that create a place of pride among its residents.

This Indwell Community Home has created an oasis for the disenfranchised. Challenging Canada to rethink the possibilities of supportive housing models and low carbon footprint construction. Lakeshore Lofts has a beautiful exterior with an even more beautiful purpose. ALPOLIC is proud to be a part of this story.
