The award-winning landscape architecture firm James Corner Field Operations no longer identifies as such. This week, the office announced its new moniker: Field Operations. The name change comes after leadership in the studio recently pivoted from sole proprietorship to a new partnership within the firm. The decision “better reflects the diversity, depth, and experience of the leadership team, as well as the collaborative character of our studio,” stated a press release.

Under the new structure, Sarah Weidner Astheimer, Richard Kennedy, and Lisa Switkin have joined the firm’s founder James Corner as partners. Megan Born, Isabel Castilla, Tatiana Choulika, Matt Grunbaum, Jayyun Jung, Veronica Rivera, Karen Tamir, and Hong Zhou are associate partners.

Each design professional brings over 15 years of experience to the office. The restructuring recognizes that the firm “has always been about more than one person” and the new identity slash managerial system is designed to better reflect that. Moreover, the new structure is meant to empower leadership within to the firm to “lead with vision, passion, and commitment, ensuring all-around excellence for clients, collaborators, and the communities” served by Field Operations.

Field Operations has offices in New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Shenzhen, and London. Last month, Field Operations won an ASLA Professional Practice Award. This year, the firm has unveiled new built work at The High Line in Manhattan, and forthcoming contributions to Boston’s Fenway area, among other major projects.
