The renowned collectible design fair, Design Miami/, is heading west to the Angeleno sun with its debut of Design Miami/ Los Angeles. From May 16 to 20, the leading authority for collectible art, will takeover the historic Holmby Hills estate, on Los Angeles’s westside, to bring together art, design, and architecture.

Since its founding in 2005, Design Miami/ has stood out as a platform championing the global design community, with its fairs, robust programing, gallery presentations, design talks, and curated commissions. The design platform’s success led to its worldwide editions, with previous fairs hosted in major cities like Shanghai, Basel, Switzerland, and most recently Paris.

Design Miami/ is set to arrive in Los Angeles, a city known for its booming cultural landscape. The new addition to Design Miami/’s programming comes after last year’s Design Miami/ Paris’ success, and the platform’s acquisition by the Los Angeles–based marketplace Basic.Space.

Holmby Hills estate, the fair’s Los Angeles venue, is fit for the dazzling curation. The estate was originally designed by 20th-century-architect Paul Williams, known for delivering glamor to Hollywood clients such as Frank Sinatra and Lucille Ball. Following an expansion, the 1930’s Georgian Colonial residence encompasses a total 30,000 square feet. Its expansive French courtyard and renovated interiors make for suitable backdrops for the furnishings and artwork set to debut there, absolutely serving as a canvas for the fair’s curations.

In preparation for the events, Design Miami/ named collectible design market advisor and curator Ashlee Harrison as Curatorial Director of Design Miami/ Los Angeles. Her careful curation of international galleries, alongside site-specific installations of art, furniture, and lighting will take over the historic estate in May. The Paris and Los Angeles–based artist Henrik Purienne will also provide art direction for the fair, following his appointment as Design Miami/ Global Creative Director for the 2024 events.

Design Miami/ Los Angeles will take place from May 16 through May 20 at the historic Holmby Hills estate. More details regarding the event’s programming will come soon.
