The Singapore Building and Construction Authority (BCA), together with Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) and Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) are jointly organizing the International Tropical Architecture Design Competition 2016 for Institutes of Higher Learning (ITAD Competition) for the sixth run this year. Themed “The Future of Green Tropical Living,” this year’s competition seeks for innovative and sustainable design entries that helps to mitigate future challenges such as climate change, rapid population growth, increasing urbanization and land scarcity in a tropical urban city. The competition is open to architecture students from institutes of higher learning all around the world and accepts both team and individual participation.

The ITAD Competition aims to nurture future architects and leaders in tropical green building designs and promote the awareness for sustainable living. It provides a platform for students to showcase their innovative sustainable ideas and encourage them to become the green leaders of tomorrow. The competition is part of the Singapore Green Building Week (SGBW) and co-located with the International Green Building Conference (IGBC), which will take place from 7th – 9th September 2016 in Singapore.

Cash awards will be provided to the winners. In addition, five finalists will be invited to Singapore (flight and accommodation covered for one representative per team) to present their works at the final judging and to attend the IGBC, where finalists get to network with industry professionals and visit green building projects in Singapore.

Registration closes on June 10th.

Submissions are due on July 7th.
