Kim Ghattas – Art for Humanity and Peace-building: Stories from Syria

Join Kim Ghattas, BBC journalist and author, as she moderates a panel exploring the role of arts in exploring conflict and finding resolution. Panelists Tania el Khoury, Lebanese-British artist and author of Gardens Speak,  Bassam Haddad, director of the Middle East Studies Program at George Mason University, visiting professor at Georgetown University, and co-founder of the independent e-zine Jadaliyya, JJ el Far, Arts Program Officer at the British Council, USA, and Natasha Hall, director of Art in ExileWashington D.C., comment on topics such as cultural diplomacy, difficult social issues, and the peaceful roots of the Syrian conflict, as well as the importance of the arts and artists voices in these conversations.

Gardens Speak and the accompanying programs are organized by the Middle East Institute in collaboration with the National Building Museum, with a generous grant from the British Council.

This program is FREE and open to the public. Pre-registration required. There is a limit of two tickets per registrant. Walk-in registration based on availability.

Registration is for event planning purposes only and does not guarantee a seat. Online registration for Museum programs closes at midnight the day before the scheduled program.
