Maestros de arquitectura: Rodolfo Machado

AIA|DC and LA.IDEA announce the 2015 Maestros de Arquitectura Lecture featuring Argentine Rodolfo Machado of Machado Silvetti.
Rodolfo Machado was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He received his Diploma in Architecture from the Universidad de Buenos Aires and his Master of Architecture degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a principal at Machado Silvetti, established in Boston, MA in 1985. They have received numerous awards, including the 2011 AIA Maryland Public Building of the Year, Institutional Architecture for the Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring, MD.
In addition to his professional practice, Mr. Machado has taught architecture and urban design at various academic institutions in the USA and abroad. He was chair of the Rhode Island School of Design department of architecture from 1978 until 1986, and was Professor in Practice of Architecture and Urban Design at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design from 1986 until 2010, where he also chaired the Department of Urban Planning and Design from 2004 to 2009. Currently he is Professor in Practice of Architecture and Urban Design, Emeritus.
For LA.IDEA|DC members, there will be a pre-lecture Tertulia, an intimate 50-minute conversation with Rodolfo Machado which will begin at 5:30 pm . This conversation will be in Spanish.
