A Special Lecture on The City Beautiful Movement

June 7, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm PDT

$10 – $22

Pasadena is heir to a stunning Civic Center created during the City Beautiful Movement. Now, with new development proposed in the National Register Historic District, Pasadena Heritage invites you to learn more about the Movement’s history, principles, and other civic projects in America from the same period.

Laurie Olin is a distinguished teacher, author, and one of the most renowned landscape architects practicing today. From vision to realization, he has guided projects from the Washington Monument Grounds in Washington, DC to Bryant Park in New York City. His recent projects include the AIA award-winning Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Simon and Helen Director Park in Portland, Oregon.

Professor Olin studied Civil Engineering at the University of Alaska and pursued architecture at the University of Washington. He is currently Practice Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania, where he has taught for forty years, and is former chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University.
