In 2024 The Architect’s Newspaper will bring the Facades+ conference series to 13 cities. This will be the 12th year of the conference and we are excited for another year of amazing programs, which will continue to highlight the latest and greatest in high performance envelope design. This year, the conferences will include a new attendee networking session, as well as industry roundtable discussions featuring leading contractors, fabricators, and manufacturers.

Facades+ will kick off the year in San Francisco, on January 25. The program will be co-chaired by SOM’s San Francisco Studio and will feature conversations on embodied carbon, the game-changing evolution of vacuum insulated glazing, as well as case studies of high-performing projects from Verse Design, KPF, and SmithGroup.

On February 23, Facades+ returns to Dallas, with a program co-chaired by Yen Ong, partner at 5G Collaborative. The event will feature case studies of award winning projects in the metroplex, such as David Hotson’s Saint Sarkis Armenian Church, Cunningham Architects’s Shady Brook Office Building, Morphosis’s Edith and Peter O’Donnell Athenaeum on the UT Dallas campus, and 5G Collaborative’s Virgin Hotel.

The Washington, D.C. conference will take place on March 20. Hickok Cole will co-chair a program that will feature presentations from SmithGroup, Leo A Daly Architects, Morris Adjmi Architects, and more.

Facades+ New York City returns with a two day conference on April 4 and 5. The first day will consist of symposium assembled with the help of co-chair Henning Larsen, and will feature case studies of The Spiral by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), the adaptive reuse of Williamsburg’s iconic Domino Sugar Factory, led by PAU, and conversations around embodied carbon, new materials, and climate change. On the second day, held at New York Law School, attendees will participate in hands-on technical workshops in a classroom setting.

For the first time ever, Facades+ will come to Nashville with the help of Hastings Architecture on April 19. On May 21, Facades+ travels to Vancouver for the first of two Canadian conferences.

Over the summer, Facades+ returns to Boston and in the fall, look out for programming in Chicago, Austin, Philadelphia, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Seattle. There’s sure to be a Facades+ event near you with opportunities to learn and network with fellow AEC professionals
